Weather Announcement

The Maryland Department of Budget and Management (DBM) frequently issues announcements regarding the closure of state office buildings and liberal leave policy.

These DBM announcements reference “Emergency Essential” personnel.  MDOT MTA designates employees as either “Essential” or “Non-Essential” and the designation of “Essential” is equivalent to DBM’s “Emergency Essential.”

Any announcement issued by DBM that references the work status of Emergency Essential employees applies to MDOT MTA’s Essential employees.  For example, if Emergency Essential employees are told to report as scheduled, then MDOT MTA Essential Employees are expected to report for duty for their normally scheduled shift.

Liberal leave has been declared for Tuesday, January 7, 2025 for all counties and Baltimore City beginning at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m. Non-emergency essential employees who report to the office may use liberal leave upon notification to the employee’s supervisor. Teleworkers should work as scheduled unless leave is granted. Emergency essential employees should report as scheduled.

MTA essential employees should report as scheduled.

MTA non-essential employees, who are required to report to the office or a worksite to work, may use liberal leave (if applicable) upon notification to their supervisor

MTA non-essential employees who are authorized and assigned to telework from home should work at home as scheduled unless leave is granted.

Home offices are unaffected by this announcement.

If you have any additional questions, please contact your supervisor.
